Rolling Hills Estates is one of four cities located on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. It encompasses approximately 3.6 square miles of land, and is mostly residential, however it is home to the major shopping areas on the Peninsula, including movie theaters, shopping mall, ice skating rink and one of two of the areas award winning high schools.


Incorporated in 1957, Rolling Hills Estates tries to maintain a fairly bucolic character with a large number of horse paths. The history of Rolling Hills Estates actually dates back to the establishment of the first Spanish rancho land grant in California. It was Los Angeles County’s 60th municipality, established on September 18, 1957. A variety of horse properties with direct access to trails as well as large estates, RHE has something for everyone.
